The purpose of this programme is to enhance the capacity of public institutions to make a more efficient and more intensive use of empirical evidence when formulating national and local policies and for the purpose of allocating public resources. The overall objectives are to (A) Strengthen the link between the GoU’s poverty reduction strategy (PEAP) objectives and outcomes and the allocation of budget resources; (B) Support the operationalisation and implementation of the NIMES initiative; including the establishment of Annual PEAP Implementation Reviews, functioning PEAP M&E plan and Local Government performance assessment framework; (C) Strengthen the capacity of district officials and other stakeholders to collect and manipulate data for planning and monitoring purposes.
