Το έργο PACK, μια φιλόδοξη τριετής ερευνητική και καινοτομική πρωτοβουλία που χρηματοδοτείται από το πρόγραμμα Horizon Europe της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, προωθεί μια σημαντική καινοτομία στην ασφάλεια των τελωνείων και των εμπορευματικών μεταφορών. Το έργο ξεκίνησε τον Οκτώβριο του 2025 και συντονίζεται από κοινού από τη General Mechatronics Llc.

As the Member States of the European Union work to advance their energy transition, industry and the business sector maintain a consistent strategic relevance. Across all countries, energy agencies and industry associations collaborate to provide support programs and one-stop-shops where companies may accelerate their transition without compromising competitiveness. 

Operational costs are an essential element of any business, big or small. In some industries, these costs are heavily impacted by energy consumption: cooling, heating, machinery, transport – all necessary to deliver a final product and all responsible for a significant share of expenses in the balance sheet.

The good news is, today’s technologies allow for companies to save energy and reduce environmental impact while staying competitive.

However, a question grows in many managers’ minds: where to start?

Buildings are one of the biggest contributors to waste and carbon emissions in Europe — yet most of them are still designed as if they'll never need to change. Le' Colaz, a Horizon Europe project, is built on a different premise: what if buildings could adapt, just like the people who live in them?

The Idea

The feature highlights the project’s contribution to improving the diagnosis and management of complex brain disorders through the use of real-world data, advanced analytics and a secure research platform developed by the consortium.

EPU-NTUA was represented by Spiros Mouzakitis and Christos Ntanos, together with many EPU-NTUA researchers, showcasing four ongoing projects through on-site banners and discussions with participants.

EPU-NTUA participated in the "AI Enables Cybersecurity" Meet Up on 14 January 2026, hosted at OTE Headquarters in Athens, Greece. The event was organised by COSMOTE Telekom in the context of the Vigilance and CyberAid kickoff meetings and brought together stakeholders with a particular interest in data protection and data spaces.

D-NAVIO ("Digital Ship") is a Horizon Europe research and innovation project that develops an Intelligent Digital Twin: a next-generation "digital clone of ships" that combines explainable AI, self-healing technologies and advanced risk models to forecast and prevent failures on large, complex vessels such as cruise ships and container carriers. By integrating cyber and physical risk into a unified framework, the project aims to make maritime transport safer, smarter and more sustainable across the entire vessel lifecycle.

At the Decision Support Systems Laboratory (DSS Lab, ICCS), we are proud to coordinate the EnergyGuard project, a Horizon Europe Testing and Experimentation Facility (TEF) that brings trustworthy AI to the energy sector.  EnergyGuard provides large-scale infrastructures and sandbox environments where startups, SMEs, and industry players can test, validate, and certify AI solutions under realistic conditions.
