EFONET aims at assessing the contribution that current knowledge on energy foresight methods and on their practical application can provide to energy policy making, specifically in the framework of the transition towards a sustainable and low carbon energy system.
The main objective of EFONET is the organisation of a structured discussion platform on energy foresight, to facilitate the effective achievement of the below goals:
- Consolidation and diffusion of the existing knowledge, notably by actively facilitating the circulation of and discussion on the state of the art methodologies, tools and research results;
- Promotion of the collaboration and the exchange of experiences between policy makers, researchers, operators, other end users and stakeholders, in order to facilitate the achievement of consensus and the uptake of research results in policy formulation and implementation.
- Systematic understanding of future trends of the energy system covering the electricity, transport and building sectors with a timeframe of 2050.
- Fostering the elaboration of shared visions of the EU energy future.
Provide feedback on the Strategic EU Energy Review and the Strategic Energy Technology Plan.
