Full title: Cleaner energy Saving Mediterranean Cities

The overall objective of the Cleaner Energy Saving Mediterranean Cities project is to support the local authorities in the ENPI South Mediterranean Partner Countries to respond more actively to sustainable policy challenges.
The Specific objectives include:
• The development of the local authorities capacities in the region in order to formulate and implement more sustainable energy policies, such as those implied by joining the Covenant of Mayors (CoM), and the development of the related Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs).
Contribute to making national authorities more aware of and responsive to the need for and advantages of a strong involvement of cities in policy issues which has a direct impact on them – such as local waste and water management, urban mobility and transport, local energy use, etc.The anticipated results can be summarized below:
• Improved knowledge of the ENPI South national authorities of their role in sustainable policy.
• Increased capacity of these authorities with regards to develop and implement sustainable energy policies, including CO2 reductions.
• Improved awareness and involvement of the local population in sustainable local policies, especially concerning energy.
• Improved implementation of the Covenant of Mayors in the region.
Two regional focal points are established, with the prospect of becoming Covenant Coordinators/ Supporters, and Covenant of Mayors offices at a later stage.
