This project will carry out the following activities:
1. Extensive overview of the state of play with the CDM, such as CDM funding programmes, policy initiatives undertaken by developing countries, GHG approved accounting methodologies approved by the CDM Executive Board, potential barriers and the appropriate financial mechanisms.
2. Analysis of the status of the three examined technology options, namely decentralised electricity production systems, efficiency improvement of fuel switch, and CO2 capture and storage in terms of research and development progress, market penetration within the EU and on a global scale as well as an assessment of barriers to technology implementation.
3. Definition of requirements for energy technology diffusion to developing countries and the extent to which the CDM could support this process.
4. Dissemination of the results from 1-3 to policy makers in the EU and in developing countries.
