GPT4YOUTH

Project summary: 

GPT4YOUTH aims to improve the performance of young professionals, students or trainees and workers, in the usage of new applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). To this end, an adapted Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) chat will be developed and deployed, which will be built and trained to meet the specific needs of these groups. Additionally, a personal learning environment (PLE) will be developed to keep up to date with AI developments applicable to their performance and to build a personal learning network, which will improve learning, acquiring new skills, and finding educational, training, and job opportunities.

Brief Project description: 

GPT4YOUTH revolves around the design, development, deployment of, and training on a Personal Learning Environment (PLE) aimed at strengthening the AI-related competences of youth workers and educators. 

Activities will include the systematic identification, selection, and curation of digital tools and learning resources that support the safe, ethical, and effective understanding and use of Artificial Intelligence. Particular attention will be given to digital literacy, data protection, online safety, and ethical considerations, while structured learning pathways will be developed to guide users through progressive levels of competence. 

The main added value will be an interactive digital learning environment, built on webmix technology (e.g. Symbaloo), enabling the organisation and continuous updating of AI-related content. The PLE will support self-directed learning, facilitate the creation of Personal Learning Networks (PLNs), and promote peer-to-peer exchange and collaboration with experts in the field. 

NTUA’s task in GPT4YOUTH is to develop an integral specialised AI-driven conversational assistant (chat) to support young people in navigating education, training, and employment pathways, as well as their employment queries, particularly in regions facing high youth unemployment. 

This AI assistant, based on Large Language Model (LLM) technology, will provide reliable information, personalised guidance, and contextualised recommendations, adapting dynamically to users’ profiles, interests, and evolving labour-market trends. Beyond answering questions, the system will support informed decision-making, skills development, and access to relevant opportunities. 

Key results include: 

• Development of an LLM tailored to youth work and youth employment contexts. 

• Integration of the conversational assistant into the project’s Personal Learning Environment, ensuring seamless and user-friendly access. 

• Extensive testing and validation with youth workers, young users, and subject-matter experts to ensure accuracy, inclusiveness, and relevance. 

• Design and implementation of learning activities that demonstrate how AI tools can be effectively embedded in youth search, learning, and work practice.
