The Unit

EPU-NTUA is a multidisciplinary scientific unit that carries out research and development activities, providing management and decision support services for a wide range of complex business, societal, and technical problems. The R&D services of EPU-NTUA are applied to research challenges as well as real-life problems in industries such as energy, trade, business, education, telecommunications, tourism, health, and public administration.

EPU-NTUA regularly collaborates on R&D and technical assistance projects with major Greek, European, and international organisations. It is involved in major EU programs and national programs funded by Greek Ministries (National Economy, Industry, Energy and Technology, Environment and Urban Planning), Energy Organisations (electricity, oil, and gas sectors), regional and national authorities, and other public and private organisations. EPU-NTUA projects are administratively handled by the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS-NTUA) and by the Research Committee of NTUA.

The activities of the unit are well-positioned to provide support for diploma and PhD theses in the field of management and decision support systems with an applied interdisciplinary orientation. The academic work of EPU-NTUA includes providing training to undergraduate and postgraduate engineers, conducting extensive research, and publishing scientific papers. The unit's members have published more than 100 papers in scientific journals during the last 5 years and teach 10 courses at NTUA in areas such as Management and Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Financial Management, Energy, Least Cost Planning, Energy Management and Environmental Policy, Multicriteria Decision Making, Forecasting Methods, Electronic Transactions, Operations Management, and Business Strategy Games.

EPU-NTUA also has a strong tradition in development, research, and training projects in areas such as program and project management, monitoring and evaluation of large projects, energy policy formulation and analysis, energy economy and environmental planning at regional and national levels, development of energy and environmental models, training and information dissemination on various topics, and scientific preparation and organisation of large conferences and workshops.

In addition, EPU-NTUA cooperates with the other two units of the laboratory – namely, IMU and FSU – to cover all aspects of information systems, communication, planning, and forecasting for contemporary organisations in both the public and private sectors.

The Unit's main aim is the design, operation, and dissemination of cutting-edge management and decision support technological solutions based on widely accepted best practices, European guidelines, and international standards.

EPU-NTUA is certified with the international standards EN ISO 9001:2015 and EN ISO 27001:2013 for providing applied R&D services in the field of management and decision support systems, as well as for design and provision of training programs and vocational training programs (Conformity Numbers: 1695/18 and 340582377).The Quality Management System of EPU-NTUA consolidates its philosophy for quality services, continuous improvement, and increasing satisfaction for partners/recipients worldwide and at all levels.
