The scope of the project is to promote research in the context of defining a comprehensive and systematic mechanism for measuring and quantifying the benefits of Interoperability (IoP) actions. The project includes the following tasks:
• The analysis of the existing status on mechanisms for measuring the direct and indirect costs and benefits of interoperability actions, including best practices, models and methods in use in the EU and elsewhere in the world.
• The identification of the indirect benefits of interoperability (externalities) towards other domains of application (social, human, educational), in a way that covers the majority of interoperability solutions in the EU.
• Anticipated results for ICCS-NTUA include the advancement of knowledge in the scientific field of interoperability, in which the institute already possesses significant know-how, the close monitoring of relevant developments and efforts in the European Union for assessing the cost and benefits of IoP actions as well as the actual and active contribution to the development of a consistent and robust IoP benefit mechanism.
