The Regio1st project is launching a mentoring programme to help local and regional authorities across Europe integrate the Energy Efficiency First (EE1st) principle into their planning and decision-making. The EE1st principle highlights the importance of prioritizing energy efficiency measures in planning and policy decisions, ensuring that energy efficiency solutions are considered before investing in new energy infrastructure.
This programme offers authorities and stakeholders the opportunity to gain expert knowledge, practical tools, and personalized guidance on prioritizing energy efficiency measures before investing in new energy infrastructure, thereby supporting Europe’s transition to a more sustainable energy system.
The programme is structured around three key learning topics:
Energy Efficiency in Plans: Participants will receive guidance on how to incorporate energy efficiency into regional energy and climate plans, using the Regio1st Planning Framework and its developed tools, designed to support the planning process.
Multilevel Governance: This cycle will focus on the importance of cooperation across different levels of governance (local, regional, national) to implement the EE1st principle in energy and climate plans.
Just Transition Fund: Participants will explore how to access funding for energy efficiency projects through mechanisms like the Just Transition Fund, learning how to navigate eligibility criteria and secure financial support for their initiatives.
Who can apply?
Local and regional authorities, energy agencies, and professionals involved in sustainable energy projects are encouraged to apply. The programme offers tailored mentoring, enabling participants to gain practical skills, access expert knowledge, and network with peers across Europe.
